Portfolio Introduction

For my portfolio I plan on using stories from Aesop's Fables or other folktales that include stories on animals.

Individuality:
This story is about embracing your differences and your insecurities. Although they are the things that, many times, we wish we could change about ourselves, they are the things to be admired. While growing up it is hard to fit in and that is something that is so important to people as they go through high school and college. What is important to remember is that what makes us different is what makes us stand out and these are the things that other people will learn to appreciate.

The Origins of Lightning and Thunder
This story is from a Nigerian folk story. It tells how the lightning and the thunder used to be here on earth in the form of a sheep and her ram son. Due to the fact that the ram had horrible anger issues, the small family was banished. When he could still not control his temper, he was banished again with his mother up into the sky. They still reside there and you can see the ram's mark across the sky when he gets angry.

  1. Hello Lauren, I am looking forward to reading your portfolio after reading your introduction. I love stories about individuals who over adversity. You are exactly right! Fitting in can be challenging and not fitting in can have a profound impact on an individual, sometimes throughout their entire life. Embracing our differences can be difficult but it in my opinion far more rewarding. I originally picked your portfolio after reading the discription of the mouse with big ears. I had to grow into my feet and my ears. My brothers and sisters often teased me about them, but eventually I grew into them and we all laugh about it now.
