Wikipedia Trail: From Zanzibar to Peroz III

This week while reading the announcements, I came across a proverb from Zanzibar so I thought I would start here and learn a little bit about this place. From here I clicked on a link leading me to a page on Fire Temples. From here I was led to a page on the Battle of Nahāvand. I had never head of this battle so it intrigued me. Lastly, I clicked on a link leading to a page on Peroz III.

Wikipedia Trail: From Hansel and Gretel to Assyria

This week I started by looking up Hansel and Gretel. One of my readings this week reminded me of this story so I thought I would read a little more about the story. This brought me to a page on hags. From here I clicked on a link to the Persian people. Lastly, I went to a link on Assyria. It is amazing how one link can lead you to such a different place.

Wikipedia Trail: From All Saints' Day to Pope Pius X

Since today is Halloween, that means it is also All Saints' Day. I am Catholic so I thought it would be interesting to do a little research on what exactly today is celebrating. I started out on the All Saints' Day page and followed it to the page on All Souls' Day, which is the day after Halloween. From here I clicked on a page about the Holy Day of Obligation. Although today is not one, there are often days during the week in which Catholics are expected to go to mass to celebrate something specific. Lastly, I clicked on a link to Pope Pius X. I did not know anything about him so I thought it would be interesting to read a little about him.

Wikipedia Trail: From Native Americans in the US to the Republic of Ireland

I started this weeks trail with a search on Native Americans in the United States. This was week 9's reading topic so I wanted to read a little about their general information. From here I clicked on a link to The Kingdom of Great Britain. Next, I clicked on a link to a page on the Monarchy of Ireland. Lastly, I clicked on a link to a page on The Republic of Ireland.

Wikipedia Trails: From The University of Texas to America's Favorite Architect

Since it is OU/TX weekend I decided to start with looking up the University of Texas. From here, I clicked on a link to the National Medal of Science. I thought it was interesting that so many of their professors had so many different achievements. From here I saw a link to the White House. I took a trip to DC to see the last presidential inauguration so I thought this would be an interesting link. Lastly, this led me to a site on America's Favorite Architecture.

This week I noticed a little blurb that included something about the Temple of Doom on the announcements page so I started here.

From here I clicked on a link that led me to a page on Steven Spielberg. Scrolling through his page, I clicked on a link to Saratoga, California. Closer to the middle of the page I found a link to Veto. I clicked on this because it reminded me of the veto that just occurred in the government this week.

Wikipedia Trail: From the Santal People to the Andamanese People

For this weeks wikipedia trail I started with a search over the Santal People. I read their folktales and retold one of their stories earlier this week so I was interested in learning a little bit more about where they come from and what is important in their culture. I next clicked on a link to Tribal Religions in India. I thought this would be interesting because I am very interested in religion. I find it interesting because there are so many different kinds and traditions that also coincide with the specific culture. I then found myself clicking on a link to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. I absolutely love the ocean and learning about different islands. I especially like learning about far off islands that I have never heard of before. Lastly, I clicked on a link to the Andamanese People. I thought it would be cool to have started my trail with a specific culture of people and end my trail with a different group of people. I wanted to learn more about these islands and what the type of culture and traditions these people have passed down.

Wikipedia Trails: From Maori to Microstate

This week I started my trail with a search of "Maori." I had chosen them as a book that sounded interesting earlier this week and Laura suggested that I look them up to learn a little more about me. This led me to a link on Cook Islanders. Scrolling down I saw a link to Free Association. I have learned about this before in history classes in high school, but I could not remember much about the specifics of what it is. This then led me to a site on microstates. I have not heard this term before, but it sounded like something interesting to learn about!

Wikipedia Trail: From Arabian Nights to the Hellenistic Period

For my Wikipedia search I started with searching Arabian Nights on Wikipedia. I was reading and noticed a piece of information on anatomy and physiology and this led me to Medicine in the Medieval Islamic World. As I continued reading on this page I saw a comment on The Book of Healing. I have heard about similar book, but was unsure what exactly this one was referring to. Somehow, I was finally led to a page on the Hellinistic Period.
